After 2020 follows a journey that begins after the artist’s younger brother dies just before a promised trip. Unable to travel together, the artist moves through Busan, Tsushima, Osaka, Kyoto, Hokkaido, and other places in Korea and Japan, tracing childhood, family, absence, and the landscapes his brother may have seen or longed to reach. The film is composed of travel footage, quiet urban scenes, and images that seem to arrive too late. Its narration moves between memory and trauma, letter and essay, weaving a life in a way that is not biographical. Following the traces of a life that will not enter history, the film attempts to sense differently the conditions of the present that continue after loss.
