The work begins with the death of the artist’s younger sibling and the depression that contributed to it, but it does not treat mental symptoms solely as an individual crisis. Rather, it approaches them as social symptoms produced through the normal operation of capitalism.
The artist reconstructs language gathered from social media into music-video lyrics, juxtaposing found footage extracted from music videos of the 1990s and 2000s with clips generated through AI. Through this process, the work radically exaggerates the violence, seduction, and absurdity already embedded in reality.
Yet this exaggeration strangely coincides with reality, creating a distance from which the absurdities of everyday life, often passed over without being sensed, can become perceptible. There, the damaged state of the world appears not as an exception, but as ordinary reality.
In doing so, the work pushes toward a point of breakdown the logic of what Mark Fisher called capitalist realism: a condition in which it becomes impossible to imagine any reality outside capitalism.
